About
Ask the Scientist is a blog all about one thing: finding cool things about science that normal people want to know about. The best way to that do that is to answer your questions!
Have you ever wondered exactly how a plant knows to grow toward the sun? Or why muscles go into rigor mortis when the body dies? Or why the temperature at the bottom of a frozen lake is always the same? Science has some of the answers, and this is the place to ask. I want to know what you want to know.
I aim to turn your questions into bite-sized chunks of knowledge. The stuff that you read and say: “so that’s why that is…” That’s just the kind of stuff that you’ll find here.
About Me: Nick Rosener
I am a Senior Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development major with my sights set on academia. In the lab, I work in cancer genetics, which I want to continue with a PhD. I love to teach, and as my friends will tell you, talk about science (mostly against their will).
If you have anything to say, get a hold of me! You can drop me an email at nick@askthescientist.org, leave a comment on the site, or tweet @askthescientist. Tell me what you like about the site, what you hate about the site*, and what you have been wondering about.
*one qualification: if you tell me you hate my hair, I will cry.
